Working too hard - the fallout: We see things based on autopilot.

"...Our mind identifies something in a certain way, no matter what the eye sees. The eye tells you one thing and the brain tells you another." Thus said Jerry Andrus, a magician. I suppose his life's work is built on making use of that particular human default position.

Please don't tease me, Jerry. My brain simply can't cope today.

Poor little Brain Coxon has been concentrating, being ultra-efficient, hard-working and switched on for several long days now. Today was its chance for a little break.

It started winding down a little while before I was ready.

Imagine a gate with no fences...a bit like this:

Caroline Coxon, working on auto-pilot, without assistance from functional brain, began to open the gate to take the horse through...

Oh dear! Time to lie down in a darkened room, I fear.

Sweat is the cologne of accomplishment

I'd probably be sweating if I had a name like Heywood Hale Broun. Just the sheer effort of remembering it.

Anyway...

At the moment, I'm glad this blog isn't provided with smellovision because that would be acutely embarrassing. I really need a shower but I'm waiting for the water to heat up so I thought I'd write this first.

I've just been up to the yard as usual and then had a vigorous riding lesson on Poppy ( I was being vigorous more than she was!) AND the sun was shining so there's no disguising the fact that I've been working hard.

(My goodness! A word of advice. Don't Google Images 'Too Hot' unless you want to blush. Or something.)

I think it's Very Unfair that when I've been working so hard for the last few weeks...working at my computer, writing, writing, writing - sometimes for 11 or 12 hours a day and late into the night and at the weekend to meet deadlines (Almost like a real job, as Pete would say, before I kicked him.)...

Yes, Very Unfair that this sort of hard work doesn't make one sweat so people would KNOW.

Then I found this quote:

Where am I going wrong?

Today is the first day of the rest of your life

Too right. I'm going to have the rest of my life today. I'm not saying it'll last more than a day but it's going to be a very good rest. I've been working too hard. Or perhaps I should say, working VERY hard?

Here's me relaxing after mucking out the horses.

And here's me in the garden after I've done all the housework, washing and ironing, cooking and been to Tesco to do the weekly shop.

And here's me with a girlfriend, watching X-Factor. (The jars are full of Chardonnay)

Yes, the best rest of my life...
